"Schnecksville Elementary School loves Janeen Mason and her OCEAN COMMOTION books!" Maura Wilder Fourth Grade Teacher Parkland School District Lehigh County, Pennsylvania "Janeen Mason's dynamic and colorful sessions with our kids went beyond her beautiful books to ignite the imagination of the educators in the audience as well. It's so Common Core / STEM friendly! Seamlessly integrating all areas of the curriculum through a picture book is what all teachers aspire to do. To see it demonstrated s enthusiastically and joyfully as she did it, with every student in the palm of her hand, was a true inspiration. What a gift that was for all of us. Very Motivating!" D. Houghtailing Library Media Specialist Marco Island, Florida I just had Janeen Mason, author/illustrator of the Ocean Commotion series visiting the school. This is the third time I’ve had her and can’t wait to have her back again! (...her fee was reasonable...) My PTSA had no qualms about presenting that check! It was extremely engaging. Her enthusiasm and charm had the students and teachers in awe. She works so well with all grade levels and adjusts each presentation to fit their needs. You will be so happy that you hired her! Focusing on inclusion, our program uses the arts to teach across the curriculum.
Janeen Mason is a dynamo when she engages students with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math from her latest book, Ocean Commotion: Caught in the Currents. Using reader's theater and a giant map of the world, students recreate the events that occurred when 28,000 rubber ducks went overboard during a terrible storm on the night of June 10, 1992. Where did they go? How did they get there? Who discovered them? How long did it take? And most importantly, why are these bathtub toys important to us?
