Janeen Mason joined Schoolyard Films in 2024 to help develop, in partnership with Amberjack Films, their groundbreaking My World Film Grant, a mentorship and funding program for the next generation of environmental storytellers.
According to Io Byatt, “My World empowers young filmmakers rooted in the communities and ecosystems they represent. With funding, hands-on mentorship from award-winning industry leaders, and a focus on solutions from day one, they create short films with real-world impact.”
Mason brings together filmmakers, passionate to inspire environmental stewardship, and philanthropists who share the understanding that equipping students with creative environmental problem solving skills can empower their imaginations and change the world. The results are short deeply engaging films that spark action in classrooms and communities around the world, from local schoolchildren to international audiences in over 170 countries.
Janeen Mason is recognized as a noted artist, curator, author, illustrator, speaker and arts advocate based on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Most importantly, she’s known as a gifted storyteller, whether through her work as a curator -- over 100 original art exhibitions for the Lighthouse ArtCenter -- or as an avid champion for the arts (she served in appointed positions under three governors as the Vice Chairman of the Florida Council on Arts and Culture). Janeen has traditionally published sixteen children’s books that have garnered ten industry awards and won the favor of booksellers, libraries, schools, and families nationwide. Her fine art has been featured in solo exhibits at galleries and museums throughout Florida and is part of the permanent collections of Universities and Fortune 500 companies. Her original artwork rests in notable private collections.
